Community First Credit Union Appoints VP of Commercial Lending

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 18, 2021 – Community First Credit Union, one of the largest credit unions in Florida, announces it has appointed a new vice president of commercial lending. George Danforth, Jr. was recently promoted from commercial banking officer.

Danforth joined the credit union in 2020 after serving in various positions at SunTrust Bank, Wells Fargo and TD Bank in Northeast Florida. He was promoted to the VP of commercial lending at Community First in April 2021.

“George helps our commercial clients solve financial issues as well as expand or plan for the future every day,” said Susan Verbeck, Community First’s chief lending officer. “His long-time commercial expertise, especially with small businesses, helps our team continue to provide exceptional commercial services.”

With 15 years of banking management experience, Danforth is responsible for Community First’s growing commercial portfolio. He manages the commercial staff, which has grown to more than seven in the last few years. Danforth attended DeVry Institute of Technology in Irving, Texas and Keene State College in Keene, New Hampshire. He was honorably discharged from the United States Marine Corps in 1990.

Community First’s commercial services has an expanding commercial loan portfolio and specializes in helping growing businesses based in the region through loans for real estate, construction, equipment, expansions and other commercial needs. It has supported the local community and business owners with more than $100 million in commercial loans.
