Credit union announces Arble Baking Co. as on-site bakery and food feature

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 24, 2026 - Community First Credit Union announced today details on the long-awaited food feature at its new Murray Hill Branch, the site of the former Edgewood Bakery. The Murray Hill location will be Arble Baking Company’s second location in Jacksonville. The family-owned and operated business is known for its cookies, cakes, pies, bread and artisan sandwiches. The bakery will be open daily at Community First’s Murray Hill Branch set to open in late 2026 at the corner of Edgewood Ave. and Post St.

“As we transform the former Edgewood Bakery into a modern, state-of-the-art credit union branch, we are thrilled to welcome Arble Baking Co. to this special corner of Murray Hill,” said Sam Inman, president and CEO of Community First Credit Union. “From the beginning, we heard how important it was to the community to bring back a warm, inviting food experience to this beloved neighborhood landmark. Selecting Arble Baking Co. reflects our commitment to honoring that vision while celebrating a family business with deep Jacksonville roots.”

Arble Baking Co. started more than 40 years ago when Willis and Veronica Anderson started baking cookies in their home. Willis, a 32-year veteran firefighter in Jacksonville, was affectionately known as “The Cookie Man.” As the recipes became more popular, the Andersons’ children founded Arble Baking Co. in 2020 and opened a brick-and-mortar location at 6765 Dunn Avenue in 2023.

“Our family is proud to partner with Community First to honor the memory of the Edgewood Bakery while bringing our legacy of savory recipes to Murray Hill,” said Alonza Anderson, co-founder of Arble Baking Co. “We have a rich history of creating warm, memorable moments for the families we serve on the northside, and now we will bring that same spirit to Murray Hill.”

The innovative branch design includes a front lawn/social area, a community room and unique architecture not normally seen at other Community First branches. The floorplan is configured inside the existing building structure on one floor and includes a refreshed and redesigned parking lot in addition to a drive-thru and full exterior updates. As in all its branches, its interior will feature a mural depicting historical photos of the neighborhood.

Community First purchased the Murray Hill location in 2024. The building had been vacant since 2016.
