FAQ

What is APY?

APY, or annual percentage yield, is a percentage rate that reflects the total amount of dividends to be paid on an account based on the dividend rate and frequency of compounding for an annual period. APY accounts for the earnings you will make on your initial balance, along with compounded interest for each month of the year, or the dividend period. At Community First, dividends compound and are credited monthly, and are calculated based on the average daily balance.

Can the interest rate on my savings account change?

Yes, interest rate and APY (annual percentage yield) can change at any time.

How can I calculate how much savings I will have?

Using a savings calculator is the simplest way to get an idea of how much your savings will grow over a period of time. Just input your starting balance, monthly contribution, and annual percentage yield, and you can see an estimate of how much could be in your savings account at the end of the set period.

How is interest calculated on savings accounts?
Dividends are compounded monthly and interest earned is calculated based on the average daily balance of the account. Learn more in the truth-in-savings disclosure.
