Community First Credit Union to Expand with Branch in Middleburg

Credit union announces property purchase at Blanding Blvd. and Henley Road

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., August 11, 2026 - Community First Credit Union intends to add another branch to its growing network with the purchase of a vacant property in Middleburg. The 1.14 acre lot is in a new retail development planned near the intersection of Blanding Blvd. and Henley Road. The credit union closed on the deal on August 7, 2026.

Community First currently has 24 locations across the First Coast. The planned Middleburg Branch will be the fourth location in Clay County joining existing locations in Orange Park and Fleming Island and a branch in development in Green Cove Springs.

Community First serves more than 17,000 members in the county. Clay County School Board employees were in the original field of membership in 1954 when Community First was known as Duval County Teachers Credit Union. Community First opened its first branch in Clay County in 1971.

“Our Middleburg members have asked for a neighborhood location for many years,” said Sam Inman, president and CEO of Community First. “We are pleased they will now have a full-service credit union branch right in the heart of their retail corridor.”

Community First is in the early stages of development of the branch, but it is planning a 3,100-square-foot, freestanding location with a drive-thru, two ATMs and the credit union’s signature tower feature. Construction date and opening date have not yet been determined.

The credit union is expanding and improving its branch network, aiming to enhance member service by configuring spaces to create a modern retail experience. Designed with Community First's updated branch concept, its new branches have open floor plans, upgraded digital technologies, and a historical mural depicting the history of the locations.

Community First is undertaking a historic investment in its branch network with nine new branches planned or opened since 2022 when it had 19 locations. The credit union recently opened its Callahan Branch (Branch 24), its new Murray Hill and Wildlight/Yulee locations currently under construction are set to open in late 2026 along with future developments in Treaty Oaks in St. Johns, Green Cove Springs, Fernandina Beach and now Middleburg.
