Tim Simpson, formerly the credit union’s VP of IT, to assume role immediately
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 21, 2018 – Community First Credit Union, one of Florida’s largest credit unions with membership open to anyone on the First Coast, announces that is has promoted its Information Security Officer (ISO) to the role of chief information officer (CIO). Tim Simpson has assumed the role effective immediately. The CIO position is a part of the seven-member executive team at Community First.
Tim has been with Community First since 1999, spending the majority of his career as vice president of information technology. Since early 2016 Tim has also served as the credit union’s ISO. In this role Tim worked to fortify the institution’s cybersecurity programs by implementing a host of policies, protocols and monitoring systems.
In his new role, Simpson is responsible for developing, creating and implementing IT policies that help achieve company and member goals. He oversees the planning and development of technology in all facets of banking transactions, member experience as well as enhanced security. He continues to lead the credit union’s cybersecurity team.

Simpson has more than nearly 20 years of experience in information technology. He earned a Bachelor of Science in computer and information services from the University of North Florida. He is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) and holds the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) designation. He is a member of the Jacksonville Chamber’s IT Council.
